Assemblant, partageant et expérimentant avec les données privées trouvées sur Internet, l’artiste numérique Dries Depoorter s’attaque à des problématiques amusantes et qui suscitent la réflexion, notamment l’identité sociale, le partage des big data, le cryptage et la protection (insuffisante) de notre confidentialité en ligne.
Son dernier projet s’intitule Die With Me (« Meurs avec moi »), une application de salon de chat que l’on ne peut utiliser que lorsque notre téléphone est sur le point de mourir.
Avant de passer au domaine des arts médiatiques, Depoorter a étudié l’électronique pendant six ans à la KASK School of Arts Ghent, où il a obtenu son diplôme en 2015. Dries a travaillé 2 ans pour une agence de publicité. Ses installations médiatiques interactives ont été présentées partout dans le monde.
Depoorter a exposé à l’international, notamment au Barbican, Mutek Festival, Bozar, IDFA Doclab, Mundaneum. FOMU, Ars Electronica, Athens Digital Art Festival, Art Soutterain, MU, etc.
Et il a donné des conférences partout sur le globe : TEDx Bruxelles, SXSW Texas, KIKK-festival, STRP festival, Mutek Montreal, Internet Week Denmark, Future Flux Festival, GetXoPhoto,Night By Us, CPH transform Copenhagen
Assembling, sharing and experimenting with private data found on the internet, digital artist Dries Depoorter tackles in a thought-provoking and playful issues like social identity, big data sharing, encryption and (the lack of) protection of our online privacy.
His latest project is named: Die With Me, the chatroom app you can only use when your phone is about to die.
Depoorter studied electronics for six years before making the switch to media arts at the KASK School of Arts Ghent, where he graduated in 2015. Dries worked 2 years for an advertising agency. His interactive media installations have been presented worldwide.
Depoorter exhibited internationally at the Barbican, Mutek Festival, Bozar, IDFA Doclab, Mundaneum. FOMU, Ars Electronica, Athens Digital Art Festival, Art Soutterain, MU, ..
